  1. Store the remote lock/wipe PIN in the SimpleMDM webUI somewhere

At the moment, when you send a remote lock/wipe command - you're required to set a PIN. But that PIN isn't retained by SimpleMDM... which means you're trusting ME to do it... ;)

But more seriously - it would great for that PIN to be viewable in SimpleMDM. My use case? Service desk admin sends a remote lock for a stolen device, finishes their shift, goes home.

Laptop is found, someone else on helpdesk can pick up the ticket, retrieve the PIN, and send it on to the end user.

Lock/Wipe PINs are now saved by SimpleMDM. They can be retrieved from the device details screen and the deleted device details screen.

  2. Add suppression of ScreenTime popup on login

ScreenTime pops up when logging into a Catalina machine.
Can the key for that be available in the DEP and profile settings to suppress?

The home screen layout has been expanded to support up to 30 icons, as became available in iPadOS 13.

Apple does not currently support configuration of the Today View via MDM.

  5. Clarify interactions between "Delay OS update availability" and "OS Auto Update Policy"

We had iOS devices updated unexpectedly to iOS 13, even though we had "Delay OS update availability" to 90 days.

Thanks to a deep investigation by Eric, we realized that the "Delay OS update availability" option applies only to the user updates. And that setting gets ignored when an "OS Auto Update Policy" is set.

To prevent others from making the same mistake we made, I suggest you change the label description of "Delay OS update availability" on the device restriction profile, to make it explicit that this will only apply to user updates. How about something like "Delay OS…

Thanks for your feedback. A note has been added in the Restrictions profile that will appear shortly.

  6. Include DEP status in CSV Export

A column indicating whether the device is enrolled via DEP would be a helpful addition to the CSV export.

  9. Prestage Enrollment with DEP

Please add the ability to set custom attributes for DEP Devices which have not yet enrolled with SimpleMDM.

This would enable us to set some user attributes (email addresses, user names etc.) before handing the device to the user. Right now we are not able to preset a Google account profile for a user for a full zero touch deployment.

  10. API add device attribute 'ethernet_mac'

As of 20190912 one is able to pull the ethernet mac address from a device via the web interface (/admin/device/<id>) assuming the device has an ethernet port.

I would like an attribute 'ethernet_mac' to be added to devices that have ethernet ports.

    curl --user ${API_KEY}: https://a.simplemdm.com/api/v1/devices/<id>

We added this option a while back but it seems we missed updating this post. You can now edit the columns shown on the main Devices page by clicking the gear icon and selecting which fields you want to be displayed.

  13. extend OS auto update policy to include macOS

Would LOVE to be able to manage OS update policy for macOS devices directly from SimpleMDM rather than needing a custom profile.

The macOS update policy can be controlled with the Restriction profile within SimpleMDM. The setting is called “Delay OS update availability” and is available at the bottom of the “Apps & OS” section.

  14. Allow app updates to be (manually) pushed to multiple devices at once

From the Apps->Catalog->Installs screen, add a "Push update" option to the Action menu, letting me push the most recent app binary to multiple devices at once.

At the moment, I have to go via Devices -> Devices -> Apps and update devices one at a time.

My use case is pushing an RC version of the app to c 3-4 manager devices, and then pushing the same/approved version to many more client devices. All at once. (Without having to generate a spurious additional build version and using auto-update during the update binary process).

  15. Enrollement links - Security Issue

Current enrollment links are not secure, links are permanent and for unlimited use. If some will steel or simply he will trying random number from 000000000 to 999999999, he will sooner or later find link with valid invite.

    This have multiple issues:
    1) License price, if i will enroll 1000 devices to someones mdm he will pay 3000$ in best case scenario or also 30000$, of course SimpleMDM will refund this but it is lost on both sides and lost of trust

    2) if the person will enroll to group with some login/security details (wifi, vpn, mail, network shares etc)…

  17. Event to Webhook for Group membership set/changed

If a device is add to a group receiving a webhook on such event would be great.
The group assignment is already available via API - receiving event details + device details would help along automated workflows, audit trails etc.

  18. User Enrollment

Please consider adding User Enrollment support, as recently demonstrated at the Apple WWDC, into the basic framework. It would make our lives infinitely easier to be able to have users logon with their AD/OKTA/PingOne/Whatever account instead of having to manage multiple accounts. Thanks.

  20. Use a different font to display firmware / recovery key

When attempting to view the recovery key or firmware key using the font on the simplemdm website on Google Chrome / Safari on macOS capital I and lower case l are impossible to tell apart. I have to copy the key into an application with a different font to see the true key.
